All good things come in small packages and Guernsey just happens to be one of them. A gorgeous tiny island with a big heart, you’ll find plenty to keep everyone occupied whilst recharging the batteries at the same time. Gastronomic delights await you with fabulous fresh seafood and local produce.  There are plenty of breweries serving up their local specialities so the grown ups aren’t left out while the kids check out whether those Guernsey cows really do make a difference to the taste of ice-cream. The pace of life is slower here and the days will drift by with idle afternoons paddling on the beach (there are plenty of them) although if you’re more energetic you might prefer to spend your time trying out any number of island activities and water sports from dinghy sailing, surfing and kayaking to getting up close to the coastline and coasteering.

WW2 will come alive for kids as they explore the German Occupation Museum and the German Military Underground Museum, an impressively bleak space hewn out of rock. Foodies and culture vultures will find rich pickings on the island with plenty of music and food festivals in the calendar. Saturdays in the summer see St. Peter Port come alive with music as musicians play for the audiences in the Market Square. You can charter boats and head out on the waters or get someone else to do the work for you and take the ferry over to Sark for a spot of garden appreciation at La Seigneurie Gardens. Lihou Island will appeal to young adventurers; it’s only accessible for 2 weeks out of every month when the causeway is uncovered so you’ll all feel as though you’re in an Enid Blyton novel!

There’s a wide choice of accommodation, from camping to going up a notch or two and staying in a range of B&Bs, hotels and luxury accommodation. Whatever you’re looking at, will help you find the right place for you on this gorgeous island.
