Where to stay

Family-friendly accommodation handy for Stonehenge includes the Holiday Inn Salisbury-Stonehenge and the Premier Inn Salisbury, but Wiltshire is also well know for its farmhouse accommodation.

In summer, Stonehenge is open daily 9.30am–6pm. For seasonal variations, see the website.

Stonehenge is about 14km from Salisbury in Wiltshire, which is just under 150km west of London on the M3.

For those coming by public transport, the Stonehenge Tour bus operates from Salisbury train and bus stations and also takes in the nearby Iron Age fort Old Sarum and some of the Wiltshire countryside, with on-board commentary.

See the website for more information on all transport options.

Light refreshments are available on-site at the Stonehenge Kitchen, or you can bring a picnic.

A family ticket will set you back about £20; under-5s go free.
